CM1836 Lawnmower review
CM1836 from Black and Decker - should you buy this cordless lawn mower?
Several people have asked me that question and the answer is that it depends on your lawn mower needs.
This is a very quiet lawnmower that is easy to handle and start ( it has an electric starter rather than messing about with gas or a pull start, and which also collects the grass clippings.
All you do is to switch on the lawn mower using the switch on the handle.
The only snag with the CM1836 that we could find is that the battery is permanently fixed – if that’s a problem for you then you should get the next model up (which is more expensive) and that has a removable battery.
You can also buy replacement batteries for thw 1936.
If you have a garden with under 1/3rd of an acre of grass to cut,
the CM1836 is the perfect choice.
We have a full review of the cm1836 here and the full technical specifications are all laid out in an easy to follow form..
The battery will charge up overnight and is sufficiently powerful to cut reasonable length grass of a medium to large lawn.
This lawn mower has a 36 volt battery (why is that important ?)
This is better than most rival lawn mowers that have 24 volt batteries
A 36 volt battery provides more voltage to the mower which means the motor goes 50% faster and has more cutting power.Power and energy are related and the heavier duty battery means that the cm1836 cuts faster and more powerfully.
Like all lawn mowers, long grass takes longer to cut so you want something that is strong enough to cut long grass without undue effort from you..
The easy answer is to start cutting your grass early in the season and to continue to cut it regularly – once a week is what I suggest as then the shoots of the grass are young and fairly flexible – that means they are easier and quicker to cut..
Wet grass is harder to cut too – so try to cut the grass when it is DRY

- Here are some hints on ensuring maximum BATTERY LIFE
FULLY CHARGE UP THE BATTERY
do this when you open the new CM1836
EACH TIME you use your Lawnmower Recharge it fully
Batteries last longer when..
you don’t leave them in an uncharged state
Don’t store the lawnmower in a hot place
Batteries like a medium temperatures
Don’t leave the mower in the snow or outside in cold weather
The 1936 is a good alternative and features a larger cutting area and a removable battery but I think the 1836 is a better deal for most gardeners.
